THE MERRY OUTLAW + BARRIER BABES
It's no secret that there has never been sufficient funding for sexual education. We are constantly seeing drastic cuts to these already small budgets, and even though it's been deemed as ineffective, abstinence-only is still the main method taught in school. Barrier Babes' mission is to show up for Kansas City in a way that our education systems have not.
Barrier Babes provides "safe sex bundles" in local bar bathrooms across the city where condoms are needed the most. These bundles include not only protection, but education along with it (i.e. how to use a condom, how to turn a condom into a dental dam, information about consent, hotline resources, etc).
Condoms and Cocktails raised funds and condoms so that Barrier Babes can continue their efforts to increase awareness and safety within our community (all while we sipped mimosas, feasted on Black Sheep + Market platters, and played hilarious sex ed games). Thanks to all who came out to support!
THE MERRY OUTLAW + KC ARTISTS
Our TMO pARTy on July 12th brought together makers, musicians, and DJs for a night we won't forget. Artists set up booths at The Hanger Gallery in Crossroads to make connections and sell their work, and a local synth wave band released their new music video before an all night dance party. We want to continue to promote the artists who make our community unique and beautiful, so keep an eye out for future pARTy events!
The MERRY OUTLAW + STITCHING CHANGE
We rang in International Women’s Day with Stitching Change - a grassroots organization that provides classes and community to refugee and immigrant women and helps them find markets to sell their handmade crafts. We love the work they do and heard they were working on opening a storefront in KCK, so we threw a party and donated all proceeds to their endeavors! We loved creating community on a dance floor and turning a fun evening into an impactful donation to a group of amazing women.
One of our website development Outlaws is working with Stitching Change to improve their website. Linking Outlaws in the community with specific skill sets to organizations seeking resources is one of our main goals. If you have skills you’d like to share, or are an organization needing assistance, let us know!

Cherith Brook demonstrates peace and community in beautiful ways and is an inspiration to The Merry Outlaw. We loved co-hosting a donation-based yoga class to benefit their good work. We all got sweaty together in Sun Salutations and partner poses and then enjoyed cold beers and vegan snacks (thanks Happy Apple Cafe!) together with a renewed sense of community. We look forward to more community yoga classes with Cherith Brook in the future!
